How Glock Works

Ever wondered how a Glock works when you squeeze the trigger? Ever wondered why the Glock barrel tilts up when the slide is locked back?

Wonder no more because there is this very cool flash animation at www.sniperworld.com/glock which shows you in detail the internal mechanisms as the trigger is pulled.

IPSC shooting not for beginners

I had the opportunity to see a beginner shoot IPSC today. The stage requires a minimum of 14 rounds, so he had two magazines full (2 mags X 15 rounds. He was using a Glock 19.). First thing that was obvious, poor trigger control. He practically emptied two magazines trying to hit a steel popper but no luck. He must have felt pressured because the more advanced shooters set times between 16 to 25 seconds for that stage. Needless to say, he finished all his ammo before the rest of us had gone halfway through ours.

In such cases, I would recommend beginners to shoot static paper targets to learn sighting and trigger control. At least you can see where the shots ended up and learn from your mistakes. You can shoot 10 rounds in 3 seconds but if you miss every shot, it ain't worth the time and money spent.

Laetitia Daguenel

Laetitia who?? Laetitia Daguenel, IPSC double French champion 2006/2007, Production Division, Ladies category.

She's my new idol! In tennis, you have Maria Sharapova. In IPSC, we have Laetitia Daguenel!

Did I mention that she uses a Super Ghost holster for her Glock 17? Me thinks that she and I think alike! Hmmm, if only I can shoot like her...

On my YouTube links, you will find her IPSC videos. Check out her movements. Enjoy!

p.s. By the way, she is only 17 years old!!

Ghost Holster

I'm looking for this rig made by Ghost International (from Italy).

Like in F1, some people say it's the driver, not the car. But I bet it doesn't hurt to have a good car in the first place ;)

I contacted the local distributor and right now am trying to find out the price.

Yay! My new holster has arrived!

Bought this plastic holster from ebay last week. Made by Fobus, mine came with the double magazine pouch as well. The paddle slips inside your pants.

This will be my interim (and el cheapo) holster until I decide to get a competition speed holster.

I'm going to test it out this weekend!

To 17 or Not To 17?

Glock 17 or Glock 19? I shoot better with the Glock 19 but the Glock 17 has two additional rounds because of the longer magazine. Even though I can insert the Glock 17 magazine into the Glock 19 for "added advantage", the IPSC rules disallows it. Bummer...

Shooting Rig

Looking for my own belt, holster and mag holders. The cheap ones are not fast (good enough, but not fast) and the fast ones are not cheap :(

Still hunting around ebay, online stores and the local distributors...

I P S C

I just discovered this "new" thing called IPSC - International Practical Shooting Confederation.  You get a handgun (minimum 9mm), a holster, a good belt and some magazine holders.  At the start of the beep, draw gun, shoot metal and paper targets as fast as you can, as accurately as you can.  There is no limit to how many rounds you can shoot but make sure you hit all the required targets! If you missed, not only do you not get the points, you get points deducted! And that really hurts your score.  Your score is divided by the time taken to shoot the stage.  The longer you take, the lower your "hit factor".
